General Flight School FAQ's
Our mission is to provide comprehensive flight training and foster a community among aviation enthusiasts. We prioritize safety, expertise, community, and an enjoyable learning environment.
We are headquartered at ClearTech Aviation at Lubbock Executive Airpark in Lubbock, Texas.
We offer training on various aircraft, including recognized names such as Cessna, Piper, Redbird, and more.
If you’re pursuing a career as a professional pilot, working as a CFI allows you to accumulate flight hours quickly, which is often a requirement for more advanced positions in the aviation industry. Having CFI and CFII certifications can also open doors and enhance your job prospects.
Salary ranges are based on experience. The median annual salary is $102,500, but seasoned Airline Transport Pilots can earn as much as $400,00 a year. Pilots with additional qualifications, such as Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII), or Multi-Engine (ME) instructor ratings, may have additional income opportunities by providing flight instruction.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) offers a financing program designed for flight training. This program can help cover the costs of both tuition and related expenses up to $25,000.
Getting Started with Flight Training
You can start training any day of the year. To formally start your flight training, you must provide essential documentation, including proof of U.S. citizenship or TSA approval.
We recommend beginning with a Discovery Flight. It’s the perfect way to experience flying and get a taste of what aviation is all about.
To start, you’ll need course training materials and proof of U.S. citizenship or TSA approval. Before your first solo flight, you’ll need an FAA-issued Student pilot certificate and an FAA-issued third-class Medical Certificate.
Private Pilot Certification
Private pilots are eligible to fly single-engine, fixed-gear airplanes with less than 200 HP. You can expand your privileges with endorsements for high-performance, complex, or tail-wheel aircraft.
You’ll need a minimum of 40 hours of flight instruction, including 10 hours of solo flying. Additionally, you must pass the FAA Private Pilot written exam.
Flight Training Components
Flight training consists of ground school and hands-on flight training in an aircraft. Both components usually start concurrently.
Our ground school curriculum includes aircraft systems, aerodynamics, airport environments, meteorology, regulations, aircraft performance, charts and navigation, human factors, and more.
